Morecambe – The Eden of the North
Morecambe and Kendal Business Improvement Districts (BID) are reaching out across Morecambe Bay and working together this summer on two fun town trails in support of Armed Forces Day on June 29th 2019.
The trails have been designed and produced by Felltarn in Kendal and the aim is to get children and families to discover both Morecambe and Kendal with star questions pointing to each other’s town. The aim of the trails is to get the children to find certain sports characters displayed in business windows, or in the businesses themselves. In addition, there is a list of festivals and events, and games for the kids to play.
Squadron Leader Brian Jefferson MBE, of the Lancaster Military Heritage Group, said: “Morecambe Armed Forces Day team are delighted that BID have supported the day again in 2019. The ‘trail leaflet’ for youngsters will bring an added attraction and encourage wider participation.”
Last year Morecambe BID helped dress Morecambe and the surrounding areas in thousands of giant poppies and helped raise over £2,000 for the Royal British Legion. John O’Neill, Manager of Morecambe BID, commented: “We know town trails are great fun for the kids and families as last year we ran a very successful Mystery Trail. We hope this year’s trail will raise awareness for the great job that our Armed Forces do in protecting us and our country, and the price they have paid over the years. Also, in recognition of the 75th anniversary of D-Day, and Armed Forces Day, Morecambe will be decked out in red, white and blue bunting for summer.”
Copies of the trail can be picked up in the following locations and it runs from June 29th until September 3rd. There is a competition to win £100 of vouchers, as well.
